Road Traffic Accidents
If you are involved in a road traffic accident, which was not your fault, then you may be entitled to make a compensation claim.
If you are a passenger in a vehicle that is involved in a collision, your personal injury claim can be made against the insurance company of the person responsible for the accident, whether that is the driver of the vehicle you were travelling in or a third party driver (or both, if necessary).
If you are a pedestrian, a motorcyclist, a pedal cyclist or a driver then your claim is made against the insurance company of the person driving the vehicle responsible for causing the accident.
Please complete our claim information form, or telephone us on 0844 846 0499 for advice on your claim.
You may also be able to make a claim for compensation if you are involved in a road accident abroad or on holiday. Contact us on 0844 846 0499 for more information.
Action to take after an accident
As with all personal injury compensation claims, you will need to prove that another person was responsible for your personal injury - in the case of a road traffic accident, this will be the driver of the vehicle you were travelling in or the third party driver.
To help your case, you should take registration numbers, names, addresses and telephone numbers of drivers and any witnesses to the accident, if possible. It is also helpful to take photographs of the accident scene if at all possible. If the third party driver has no valid insurance, leaves the scene or admits to driving a stolen vehicle, you should contact the Police immediately to report the incident.
Remember to keep receipts for any expenses such as prescription costs and travel costs, as evidence so that you can re-claim them.
